I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon) -- and no Photoshop. So, what I see is what you get!
I began this as an effort to improve my photography skills and it's turned into a sort of diary of my life, basically because I spend so much time with my family and friends. Therefore, they've become the subject of so many of my photos. It's kind of hard to get out and take photos of other things when you have a house full of kids and grandkids -- not that I'm complaining, mind you. I hope I am still improving at photography. I'm picking up the camera every day -- well, at least most days. I am putting thought into my images and the settings on my camera, etc. Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.
If anyone would like to contact me, my e-mail is irishmurr57@yahoo.com.

Well, I'm not ending the year on an overly creative note, but this champagne cork has been sitting around from a holiday celebration, and it is New Year's Eve after all! ;-)

for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,

I was trying to do a water droplet reflection shot -- without much success. So I pulled back, took this one and played with it a little bit. I'll keep working on that water droplet shot though! (December 29, 2007)
“Look, I'm not an intellectual - I just take pictures.”
~~ Helmut Newton
I didn't even pick up the camera today, so here's one from yesterday. My Mom came in to town over the holidays, for the first time in almost 15 years, which made it extra special for the whole family. This was her last night before heading back home, so she made sure to give Johnny lots of hugs and kisses, to get him through until next time she sees him. (December 28, 2007)
"Uncles and aunts, and cousins, are all very well, and fathers and mothers are not to be despised; but a grandmother, at holiday time, is worth them all."
~~ Fanny Fern
After crawling across the floor and climbing up on my legs, Johnny figures he should be rewarded by being picked up -- and, of course, he was! (December 27, 2007)
"Of course I'm ambitious. What's wrong with that? Otherwise you sleep all day."
~~ Ringo Starr
Looks like I need to start shopping -- and when I'm done with that, I can take my hubby out to dinner. Ahhhh, the perfect day! (December 26, 2007)
“Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping.”
~~ Bo Derek
Lauren must've gotten something really awesome for Christmas! (December 25, 2007)
"Nothing's as mean as giving a little child something useful for Christmas."
~~ Kin Hubbard
My favorite Christmas present? Getting all the grandkids together and spending some time with them! Of course, getting them all to sit still for a nice photo is another story.... Maybe I'll wish for that next year. (December 24, 2007)
Merry Christmas to Everyone!
"Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time."
~~ Laura Ingalls Wilder
Who says money doesn't grow on trees?
I will be turning the Big 5-0 on Christmas Day and my husband surprised the heck out of me by planning a birthday party. Fifty of our family and friends came out for a wonderful evening -- and my mother even made the trip from Tennessee -- and no one spilled the beans! I think I'm still in shock, while Larry is just glad it's over with -- for another 50 years, that is! (December 22, 2007)
"As a graduate of the Zsa Zsa Gabor School of Creative mathematics, I honestly do not know how old I am."
~~ Erma Bombeck
MacCaila had her first performance of her Christmas concert today. So, of course, I had to get some shots of our little angel! (December 21, 2007)
"God not only sends special angels into our lives, but sometimes He even sends them back again if we forget to take notes the first time!"
~~ Quoted in The Angels' Little Instruction Book by Eileen Elias Freeman, 1994
I know our kids are all wondering who is going to be the lucky one to get this little gem in his or her stocking! (December 20, 2007)
"There is a remarkable breakdown of taste and intelligence at Christmastime. Mature, responsible grown men wear neckties made of holly leaves and drink alcoholic beverages with raw egg yolks and cottage cheese in them."
~~ P.J. O'Rourke.
.... and don't we all know someone who was just drinking eggnog the other day?
