Once we decided to head to Savannah for the 2007 Grand National of the Cadillac LaSalle Club, we started looking around for a place to spend a couple of days on the way down -- and came across Carolina Beach, North Carolina, which is in the Cape Fear area of NC.
It was raining when we first arrived in Carolina Beach, so we couldn't get outside and explore right then. After driving 11 hours though, we were happy to find a local restaurant to sit, relax and get a decent meal. Slainte! (July 30, 2007)

There were still some clouds, but we did see the moon trying to peek through too. (July 30, 2007)

Can you imagine how great it felt to get up the next morning, open our front door and see this view?!? (July 31, 2007)

We slept in this morning -- until 7:00 or so -- but managed to see the sun shortly after it had risen. The fishing boats had probably already been out for hours by this time. (July 31, 2007)

We decided to head into Wilmington to see the sights, but stopped first at the Waffle House. This was Larry's visit time at a Waffle House and I tried to get him to stand by the sign -- but, no luck! (July 31, 2007)

I think we ended up in Carolina Beach, just so Larry could see the USS North Carolina. (July 31, 2007)
