Here are pictures of statues, sculpture and monuments we have found in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Today we made a quick visit to the German Cultural Gardens, which are part of a series of cultural gardens along East Boulevard and MLK Boulevard near Rockefeller Park. The wrought-iron gates leading to the garden were made in Alsace (then a part of Germany).

The German Cultural Garden "centers about an impressive bronze two-figure statue of Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749-1832) and Friedrich von Schiller (1759-1805), Germany's greatest two poet-philosophers. It is a replica of the famous Weimar statue, modeled in 1856 by Ernest Reitschal, the Dresden sculptor. Here tower the two mighty figures, joined in friendship as they were in life, and grandly dominate the spacious and imposing German Garden." [source: clevelandmemory.org]

This is a bust of gymnast, Friedrich Ludwig Jahn, founder of physical education. He organized the first gymnast clubs in 1811.
"Friedrich Jahn was (and still is) known as "Father Jahn" for having fathered the many athletic clubs and for being like a father to so many young men.
He is also known as a great German nationalist. He was dismayed by the breakup of Prussia after the Napoleonic Wars in 1806 and fought for the renewal of the German nation. He was elected to the national parliament in Frankfurt in 1848." [source: clevelandseniors.com]
