I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon). I've never really done any pp, but just got Photoshop Elements, so wish me luck!

I began posting on the daily photos community almost two years ago and hope that making this effort on a daily basis has helped to improve my photography skills -- but realize that I still have a long way to go! Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

irishmurr > Some of you may remember this Model T from an earlier daily, but I thought you might get a kick out of seeing our friends driving it -- which they do a lot.
And here ends my mini-series on classic cars. I WILL bring you something other than an automobile for tomorrow's shot ..... promise! (September 30, 2008)

"I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise. But it will be low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one-and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God's great open spaces."
   ~~ Henry Ford

And, btw, I would've liked to have gotten more of the car in this shot, but Bob was clipping away at a good pace -- right toward me! He was either showing off for the guys, or trying to hit the crazy photographer lady. :-)
irishmurr > It's true: duct tape can fix anything.
Here's another shot from Sunday. We almost made it home, when The Beast suddenly cut out -- on the freeway exit ramp. Luckily, two burly young fellows stopped and helped us push it into the gas station (oh, the indignity!) and then Ulises came to the rescue. Seems the cable connecting the battery to the starter came loose. They couldn't get the clamp back on, so they simply taped it together with duct tape. Hey, it got us home!
I thought Andrea, Jim and Whoa Nellie might learn from this experience: always carry duct tape! ;-)

"A hobby is hard work you wouldn't do for a living."
  ~~ Anonymous
irishmurr > We had a clambake today for our car club. Thought you might enjoy a photo of a Cadillac, rather than a shot of the clams. :-)
(September 28, 2008)

"When once a decision is reached and execution is the order of the day, dismiss absolutely all responsibility and care about the outcome."
   ~~ William James
irishmurr > Did I mention we were going to the Kiddie Park today? (September 27, 2008)

"If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall. I would go to more dances. I would ride more merry-go-rounds. I would pick more daisies."
   ~~ Nadine Stair
irishmurr > I could watch these two for hours. (September 26, 2008)

"Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children."
   ~~ Alex Haley

Sorry .... I know some of you are probably thinking: "What? Another Johnny snapshot?" (And snapshot it is, straight out of the camera, except a little crop.) Well tonight we had a sleep-over, so what else did you expect? No pp because I'm tired after chasing a toddler most of the evening. Saturday it's off to the Kiddie Park ..... and Sunday it's another clambake .... and then Monday I can go back to work and rest. ;-)
Hope you all have a great weekend!
irishmurr > Wonder what my fortune holds?

It was a busy day, so this is what you get! :-)
(September 25, 2008)

"Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed."
   ~~ Wayne Dyer
irishmurr > Popsicles are good when you're teething. (September 24, 2008)

"Perhaps all pleasure is only relief."
~~ William S. Burroughs
irishmurr > The leaves on my tree are turning! (September 23, 2008)

"How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days."
   ~~ John Burroughs
irishmurr > Happy First Day of Fall!

Time to put away the flamingos and sea shells -- and bring out the fall decorations. (September 22, 2008)

"Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower."
   ~~ Albert Camus
irishmurr > This was taken with my point-and-shoot camera a couple of days ago, but I played with it a little today and came up with this effect. Kinda cool, don't you think? ..... now, if I could just remember how I did it ..... ;-)
(September 21, 2008)

"The advantage of a bad memory is that one enjoys several times the same good things for the first time."
   ~~ Friedrich Nietzsche
irishmurr > Today was an annual clambake with family and friends -- which meant a lot of family snapshots. So, here's one for you. I liked it because Johnny looks determined to get up that slide, whether I put down the camera to help him, or not! (September 20, 2008)

"Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough."
   ~~ Og Mandino
irishmurr > "What're you doing?"

We were helping some friends set up for a clam bake tomorrow, when this caught my eye -- and no one could understand why I was down in the brush with my camera. (September 19, 2008)

“To understand the heart and mind of a person, look not at what he has already achieved, but at what he aspires to.”
   ~~ Kahlil Gibran
irishmurr > Why does a person that's so small .... require so much stuff? (September 18, 2008)

"The simplest toy, one which even the youngest child can operate, is called a grandparent."
   ~~ Sam Levenson
irishmurr > Today was a lovely day to get out and talk a walk through the city -- which is exactly what I did with my trusty point-and-shoot. The statue is of Tom L. Johnson, Mayor of Cleveland from 1901-1909, and the church in the background is the Old Stone Church, which was built in 1855, renovated twice after fires ..... and where Larry and I were married.

I kind of felt like In Our Time -- out taking photos of our lovely city! (September 17, 2008)

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you
miss by going to fast - you also miss the sense of where
you are going and why."
   ~~ Eddie Cantor
irishmurr > The Baby in the Camera ....

Don't you love how kids always want to see the shot you've taken of them, immediately after you took it? (Ahhhhh, the digital age.) At 18 months, Johnny has already figured out that once I take a photo of him, there's an adorable baby on the screen in the back. For that reason, he doesn't like to get too far away from the camera. (September 16, 2008)

"Curiosity killed the cat, but for a while I was a suspect."
   ~~ Steven Wright

.... and if you look closely, you'll see this is a sp!
