DailyPhotos > irishmurr  > Photography > Daily Photos (July - Dec. 2008)
I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon). I've never really done any pp, but just got Photoshop Elements, so wish me luck!

I began posting on the daily photos community almost two years ago and hope that making this effort on a daily basis has helped to improve my photography skills -- but realize that I still have a long way to go! Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

While my daily photos from 2007, can be found here.

If anyone would like to contact me, my e-mail is irishmurr57@yahoo.com.

irishmurr > I didn't even pick up the camera today, so here's one from the other day when Michael came downtown to have lunch with me. (November 30, 2008)

"Christmas is the gentlest, loveliest festival of the revolving year - and yet, for all that, when it speaks, its voice has strong authority."
   ~~ W.J. Cameron
irishmurr > Our Thanksgiving celebration continues .... our nephew was in town for the holiday and his alma mater, the St. Ignatius Wildcats, were in the playoffs. (November 29, 2008)

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.”
   ~~ Bill Shankly

The headline today: "State Champs! St. Ignatius Wildcats overwelm Cincinnati Elder 28-20" Go Wildcats!
irishmurr > Here's how I spent Black Friday: by getting ready for the holidays. There's nothing I need badly enough to endure the crowds shopping the day after Thanksgiving. :-)
(November 28, 2008)

"People will buy anything that is one to a customer."
    ~~ Sinclair Lewis
irishmurr > Three of the things I'm most thankful for. (November 27, 2008)

"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures."
   ~~ Thornton Wilder
irishmurr > Today was Michael's turn to be my grandchild-of-the-day shot. He came to visit me at the office, after which we went to lunch -- where he enjoyed this bucket o' Sprite! (November 26, 2008)

"The test of an enjoyment is the remembrance which it leaves behind."
   ~~ Jean Paul Richter
irishmurr > Here's the latest installment in my series of grandchildren shots. ;-)

I love the holidays, but boy, are they a lot of work! (November 25, 2008)

"You owe it to everyone you love (including yourself) to find pockets of tranquility in your busy world."
   ~~ Anonymous

[And this was my little pocket of tranquility today.]

I've been trying to get a really nice, sharp b&w shot of Maeve to put in a frame on my mantle. Any suggestions? Keep in mind she is a wiggler! Thanks!
irishmurr > Just another family snapshot -- but I told you there'd be plenty of these over the next few weeks.

I liked this one because Maeve is the center of attention. Can you believe she's already six weeks old?!? (November 24, 2008)

"In family snapshots the flow of profane time has been stopped and a sacred interval of self-conscious revelation has been cut from it by the edge of the picture frame and the light of the sun or the flash."
   ~~ Michael Lesy
irishmurr > I spied this fellow eating out of the gutter on our garage and, if you look closely, you'll see bits of the roofing and a piece of wood (?) stuck to his nose. Quite the glutton, I'd say. (November 23, 2008)

"The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not."
   ~~ Mark Twain
irishmurr > The holiday season is upon us.

Tonight we went to see the lighting ceremony at one of our outside shopping centers with Johnny and Michael, their parents and other grandparents -- and a wonderful time was had by all! (November 22, 2008)

"The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other."
   ~~ Burton Hillis
irishmurr > Today was Maeve's turn to show off her beautiful eyes. (November 21, 2008)

“Q: You don't spoil your grandchildren do you?
A: Not this morning, I haven't seen them yet.'”
   ~~ Felix Sabates

Sorry I was MIA today but I think weekends between now and the holidays are going to be hectic. Warning: you'll probably be seeing lots of grandkid shots as a result.

I'm exhausted .... going to bed ..... catch up with all of you tomorrow!
irishmurr > It was tough deciding between Johnny's curls or his eyes, but as you can see, the eyes have it. (November 20, 2008)

"The sun illuminates only the eye of the man, but shines into the eye and the heart of the child."
   ~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
irishmurr > I'm not even sure what I was going for with this shot, and between work, running errands and girls' night out I ended up with about a half an hour to make my feeble attempt. So I took my macro lens, some pinecones that I had sitting around and this is the result. Sorry, that's about as creative as it got today. (November 19, 2008)

“No great thing is created suddenly.”
   ~~ Epictetus
irishmurr > With all the fowl photos we've seen on the dailies lately, Maeve thought it was a good time to introduce you to her pet turkey. ;-)
(November 18, 2008)

"Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms."
   ~~ George Eliot
irishmurr > I am not ready for snow.

The east side got it worse than us today, but I imagine our turn is coming. And yes, the little white streaks in the shot are hail-like "flakes" that started just as I bundled myself up to go outside to take this shot ..... the story of my life. :-)
(November 17, 2008)

"Nature has no mercy at all. Nature says, "I'm going to snow. If you have on a bikini and no snowshoes, that's tough. I am going to snow anyway."
   ~~ Maya Angelou
irishmurr > Can you tell we had fun this weekend? ;-)

It's just a quick snapshot -- quick because those white spots you see are snowflakes! (November 16, 2008)

"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."
   ~~ Bill Watterson
I didn't even pick up the camera today, so here's one from the other day when Michael came downtown to have lunch with me. (November 30, 2008)
