I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon). I've never really done any pp, but got Photoshop Elements last year and am slowly learning to do some post processing.

I began posting on the daily photos community two years ago and hope that making this effort on a daily basis has helped to improve my photography skills -- but realize that I still have a long way to go! Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

irishmurr > Flag Day

Bet you never would've guessed this was our house. :-)
(June 14, 2009)

"It is the flag just as much of the man who was naturalized yesterday as of the men whose people have been here many generations."
   ~~ Henry Cabot Lodge

And thanks for all the comments and caption suggestions on the Flinstone-mobile shot. You didn't disappoint!
irishmurr > I'm sure with all those creative minds out there, you all can come up with some appropriate captions for this shot.

I was simply going to say: welcome to my world -- because this is just a normal Saturday night for us. The scary thing is this is our friend's backyard and these four were telling me to hurry up and take the shot, because they were getting tired of moving their feet! :-)
(June 13, 2009)

"Tis the privilege of friendship to talk nonsense, and have her nonsense respected."
   ~~ Charles Lamb
irishmurr > This is for my cousin Beverly, who paid me the best compliment the other day. When she saw photos of the flowers around my house, she said you could tell I was our Mamaw's granddaughter, because she had such a love of flowers, too. That meant the world to me. (June 12, 2009)

"A garden of Love grows in a Grandmother's heart."
   ~~ Anonymous
irishmurr > Dinner out with the hubby.

We don't eat out a lot but today we were running errands and had all those gift cards from Christmas .... so it seemed like the thing to do. Ahhhhh, it was wonderful. (June 11, 2009)

"Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”
   ~~ Robert Brault
irishmurr > Today it's Johnny's turn to be my daily. You've seen more photos of Maeve lately because, when you sit Maeve down in a spot, she stays there. John William on the other hand .....

I did manage to catch him in a quiet moment -- which I thought I'd share. You'll never believe how much I absolutely adore this handsome young man. (June 10, 2009)

"Between the innocence of babyhood and the dignity of manhood, we find a delightful creature of a boy."
   ~~ Anonymous
irishmurr > I think I need to stop putting these flowers next to Maeve when I'm trying to take her portrait. :-)
(June 9, 2009)

"Children in a family are like flowers in a bouquet: there's always one determined to face in an opposite direction from the way the arranger desires."
   ~~ Marcelene Cox
irishmurr > Summertime

This is another shot from Michael's baseball game on Sunday. When the sprinklers started running on the football field next to the baseball diamonds, all the kids who weren't playing baseball had a good time. I was almost ready to join them! (June 8, 2009)

"Summer afternoon - summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
   ~~ Henry James
irishmurr > We went to watch Michael play baseball today and while his team didn't win the game, they gave it their best. Michael hit this ball, got on base and ended up scoring! Go Stars! (June 7, 2009)

"Try and fail, but don't fail to try.”
    ~~ Stephen Kaggwa
irishmurr > I think I'm going to have to tell Larry to stop shining The Beast up so well -- those reflections make it tough to take decent photos of it! :-)
(June 6, 2009)

"The reward of a thing well done is to have done it."
   ~~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
irishmurr > T.G.I.F.

Maeve and I began the weekend by relaxing on the porch. (June 5, 2009)

"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."
   ~~ Bill Watterson

This shot was taken by Photo Assistant Larry, who says he needs a watermark created using his initials, so everyone knows this is his work. I think I've created a monster ..... :-)
irishmurr > The pool is all ready to go .... now if the water would just warm up a little. It's been in the 40's the last two nights -- brrrrr! (June 4, 2009)

"Well, me don't swim too tough so me don't go in the water too deep."
   ~~ Bob Marley
irishmurr > When creativity fails me, and there are no cute grandkids in the house, I always have my flowers. (June 3, 2009)

"I wonder what it would be like to live in a world where it was always June."
   ~~ L. M. Montgomery
irishmurr > Babies come with a lot of toys. (June 2, 2009)

"The simplest toy, one which even the youngest child can operate, is called a grandparent.”
   ~~ Sam Levenson
irishmurr > Do you know how difficult it is to take photos when you're riding a bike?

This is the reason I had the point and shoot with me when I went to meet our very own Pointandshoot -- we had taken a bike ride before lunch. By the end of the ride I could snap a shot and keep peddling without losing my balance -- although just barely. :-)
(June 1, 2009)

"Get a bicycle. You will not regret it if you live."
   ~~ Mark Twain
irishmurr > I met up with another Smugger today! Can you tell who it is behind that camera?

This shot is sooc with my trusty point and shoot Canon .... hint hint .... point and shoot .... okay, I won't make you wait until tomorrow for the answer so for the very first time since I've been part of the daily community, I'm posting two photos for one day. Check out the next one to see who I had lunch with. (May 31, 2009)
