I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon). I've never really done any pp, but got Photoshop Elements last year and am slowly learning to do some post processing.

I began posting on the daily photos community two years ago and hope that making this effort on a daily basis has helped to improve my photography skills -- but realize that I still have a long way to go! Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

irishmurr > The kids all gave us bakery for Valentine's Day. Hmmmm, wonder why? :-)
(February 15, 2009)

"A compromise is the art of dividing a cake in such a way that everyone believes he has the biggest piece."
   ~~ Ludwig Erhard
irishmurr > Johnny all puckered up for Valentine's Day.

I took so many photos today, between grandkids in the house .... dinner out with the hubby ... and stopping by to visit with some friends .... So, can you imagine the difficulty of picking just one for my photo of the day. But, here it is. (February 14, 2009)

"A decision is what a man makes when he can't find anybody to serve on a committee."
   ~~ Fletcher Knebel
irishmurr > A rose from my hubby. (February 13, 2009)

"A relationship is like a rose,
How long it lasts, no one knows.
Love can erase an awful past,
love can be yours, you'll see at last.
To feel that love, it makes you sigh,
To have it leave, you'd rather die.
You hope you've found that special rose,
'cause you love and care for the one you chose.”
   ~~ Rob Cella

This is the end of my mushy photos and quotes -- I think I've done enough to last me 'til next year. Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
irishmurr > I never realized how really imperfect these candy hearts are, until I tried to get a decent shot of them. And, yes, I was inspired by Bridgette's photos. :-)
(February 12, 2009)

"Imitation is the sincerest of flattery."
   ~~ Charles Caleb Colton

And thanks so much for all the anniversary wishes -- which actually isn't until August. :-o I just mentioned it with yesterday's shot, because I find it hard to believe that we're old enough to even be thinking about celebrating a silver wedding anniversary ....
irishmurr > I really didn't plan on doing a week's worth of Valentine photos, but after those adorable kids and their Valentine shots -- and then Jack cooperating so nicely -- guess I'll keep it going ...

Here's the Valentine I'll be giving to Larry. We'll be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year -- and I can't imagine my life without him. (February 11, 2009)

"Before I met my husband, I'd never fallen in love. I'd stepped in it a few times."
   ~~ Rita Rudner
irishmurr > Jack wanted a turn posing for a Valentine's Day photo. And he must've really wanted it, because most times when he sees me with the camera, he comes to check out what I'm doing .... which makes getting a shot of him quite challenging, to say the least. (February 10, 2009)

"Everything I know I learned from my cat: When you're hungry, eat. When you're tired, nap in a sunbeam. When you go to the vet's, pee on your owner."
   ~~ Gary Smith
irishmurr > I didn't figure I could get away with a half-naked cherub-inspired Valentine's shot of these two cool dudes .... so I was thrilled when they offered me this pose. (February 9, 2009)

"It's the merry-hearted boys that make the best men!"
   ~~ Irish proverb
irishmurr > Maeve's turn for a Valentine's shot. Since she hasn't discovered the joy of chocolate yet, she gets rose petals. (February 8, 2009)

"I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck."
   ~~ Emma Goldman
irishmurr > I think Johnny is more interested in the chocolate than all that mushy Valentine's Day stuff ..... (February 7, 2009)

"All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!"
~~ Lucy Van Pelt in Peanuts by Charles M. Schulz
irishmurr > Spring must be on it's way -- my shamrocks are blooming. (February 6, 2009)

"If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome."
   ~~ Anne Bradstreet
irishmurr > Not enough hours in the day today to even pick up the camera. So here's another one from yesterday .... which could also have been a shot from last week .... or maybe a shot of what we can expect next week? (February 5, 2009)

"This is like deja vu all over again."
   ~~ Yogi Berra
irishmurr > Want some?

Update on Mom's photo frame: it arrived in Tennessee today and after she plugged it in to her phone line and an outlet -- bingo bango, there were the photos I uploaded on Sunday. And I was right -- she loves it! Of course, now she expects some new ones from today .... luckily Michael and Johnny stopped by. :-)
(February 4, 2009)

"Happiness is not so much in having as sharing. We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
   ~~ Norman MacEwan
irishmurr > Maeve is ready for spring.

.... just another Maeve shot. I need some more photos for my next birthday project. ;-)
(February 3, 2009)

"No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow."
   ~~ Proverb

Funny story about this shot: yes, when I saw Maeve in this outfit I remembered I had these two flowers and thought: photo op. The flowers were actually closer to Maeve when I started taking the shots, but then Jack Jack the Fighting Cat began gnawing on them and was pulling them off to his lair. So I took a couple quick shots before they were entirely gone! :-)
irishmurr > Johnny's turn.

My series on birthdays and photographs continues .... :-)
John William's birthday is fast approaching and since he loves nothing more than sitting and looking at photo albums, and naming everyone in the family, I thought I'd make him his very own album with lots of family photos, and some stickers to make it special. (February 2, 2009)

"A young child is, indeed, a true scientist, just one big question mark. What? Why? How? I never cease to marvel at the recurring miracle of growth, to be fascinated by the mystery and wonder of this brave enthusiasm."
   ~~ Victoria Wagner
irishmurr > How cool is this?

My Mom lives in Tennessee, but my siblings and I, the grandkids and now the great grandkids are all in Ohio, which means I spend a lot of time sending photos to Mom -- via snail mail since she doesn't have a computer or access to the internet. For her birthday we came up with the idea of getting her this digital frame, which she can hook up to a phone line. Photos we upload to the frame before midnight on any given day are there for her to view when she wakes up the next morning. So she can start each day looking at photos of the family here in Ohio. The kids can even send her photos from their cellphones. She's going to love this! (February 1, 2009)

"A photograph is memory in the raw."
   ~~ Carrie Latet
