I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon). I've never really done any pp, but got Photoshop Elements last year and am slowly learning to do some post processing.

I began posting on the daily photos community two years ago and hope that making this effort on a daily basis has helped to improve my photography skills -- but realize that I still have a long way to go! Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

irishmurr > Family.

St. Patrick's Day was a day filled with family -- as it should be. For instance, Maeve's other grandparents sent me a wonderful thank you note for all the photos I take of our wee Maeve Margaret; Johnny's other grandparents joined us for our St. Paddy's Day celebration; Larry's family was out in full force ... suffice it to say it was a wonderful day.

And thank all of you who sent us special mesages -- to the most Irish people you know on smugmug! :-)
(March 17, 2009)

"You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them."
   ~~ Desmond Tutu
irishmurr > Where else would you find the Murrays on the day before St. Patrick's Day, than at the Irish American Club (of course!). (March 16, 2009)

"If you hold a four-leaf shamrock in your left hand at dawn on St. Patrick's Day you get what you want very much but haven't wished for."
   ~~ Patricia Lynch

Hope you'll all excuse me if I'm MIA today, but you know I'll be celebrating the holiday with family and friends. I'll catch up with you all tomorrow -- in the meantime, hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patrick's Day!

Erin go bragh!
irishmurr > Johnny's an old pro posing in the outfits I've made him for St. Patrick's Day, having done it already in 2008 and way back in 2007. (March 15, 2009)

"When Irish eyes are smiling, watch your step."
   ~~ Gerald Kersh
irishmurr > I wanted a cute Irish shot of these two, and decided to let them do what felt natural ... and here's the result. (March 14, 2009)

"I'm just a true Irish boy at heart. "
   ~~ Colin Farrell
irishmurr > After my week of Valentine's shots before Valentine's Day, did any of you doubt I'd have a week of Irish shots before St. Paddy's Day? :-)

Larry assures me that no series of Irish photos is complete without one of the tri-color. So, big guy, this one's for you. (March 13, 2009)

"Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter
Lullabies, dreams, and love ever after.
Poems and songs with pipes and drums
A thousand welcomes when anyone comes.
That's the Irish for you!"
   ~~ Irish Poem
irishmurr > Kindness matters. (March 12, 2009)

"May the lilt of Irish laughter
lighten every load.
May the mist of Irish magic
shorten every road...
And may all your friends remember
all the favours you are owed."
   ~~ Irish Blessing
irishmurr > Maeve Margaret is ready for her first St. Patrick's Day!

As you can see, her outfit is done .... now, only two shirts to go, and I'll be done with my sewing for the year. (March 11, 2009)

"St. Patrick's Day is an enchanted time -- a day to begin transforming winter's dreams into summer's magic."
   ~~ Adrienne Cook
irishmurr > I'm sure you all know what's happening one week from today ..... and you know the Murrays will be enjoying a pint or two with loads of family and friends. ;-)

Here's a tidbit about this particular Great Lakes beer: the dashing gentleman pictured on the label is the grandfather of the Conway brothers, owners of the brewery. He was a Cleveland policeman, who came here from County Mayo. Perfect for their Irish ale, don't you think?

Slainte to all our friends here on Smugmug! (March 10, 2009)

"There are good ships,
and there are wood ships,
The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships, are friendships,
And may they always be."
   ~~ Irish Toast
irishmurr > Happy 50th Birthday Barbara Millicent Roberts .... she definitely looks better than I did when I reached that milestone. (March 9, 2009)

“Barbie is the most fashionable girl on the planet.”
~~ Lauren Dougherty
irishmurr > Sorry I was scarce today, but as some of you may remember, once a year I dust off the sewing machine and make St. Paddy's Day outfits for the grandkids. This year we have a new twist -- Johnny and his Daideo are going to have matching "Hawaiian" shirts made with this fabric, while Maeve Margaret's outfit will be all sparkly. (And I have glitter all over my house to prove it.) The two older boys are getting the standard t-shirts because, of course, something made by grandma isn't cool when you're nine years old. :-)
(March 8, 2009)

"Really I don't dislike to cook, but what you cook is eaten so quickly. When you sew, you have something that will last to show for your efforts."
   ~~ Elizabeth Travis Johnson
irishmurr > Johnny has a curl right in the middle of his forehead. (March 7, 2009)

"What are little boys made of?
Snips and snails, and puppy-dogs' tails,
That's what little boys are made of."
   ~~ Nursery Rhyme

I know the curl reminds everyone of another nursery rhyme, but trust me, John William is not a little girl .... nor is he horrid. :-)
irishmurr > We made it to the auto show today and between people, reflections, overhead lights .... well, this is about as good as it gets. Larry was checking out the Harleys, which had some incredible paint jobs -- add a little zoom effect and vignette and, voila, here's my daily. (March 6, 2009)

“Life's disappointments are harder to take when you don't know any swear words.”
   ~~ Calvin & Hobbes

And Maeve Margaret says "go raimh maith agat" (thanks in Irish celtic) for all those wonderful comments on her photo yesterday!
irishmurr > Originally we were supposed to spend the afternoon at the auto show, but when those plans got cancelled, Maeve and I decided it was time to try a St. Paddy's Day shot. Bet you never would've guessed this was mine? :-)
(March 5, 2009)

“You have to be fast on your feet and adaptive or else a strategy is useless.”
   ~~ Charles de Gaulle
irishmurr > I love the light many of you capture in your still lifes, so today was my turn to give it a try. (March 4, 2009)

"You learn something every day if you pay attention."
   ~~ Ray LeBlond
irishmurr > We're passing around the respiratory bug that's out there and that, together with the fact that it was "crazy cold" outside, left me totally wiped out today. So I thought one of these shots of my flowers from last summer might make me feel better ... and it did. :-)

I did also adjust it a little and added the frame with smugmug's picnik tool today, so hope that counts as my daily. (March 3, 2009)

"You have a cough? Go home tonight, eat a whole box of Ex-Lax - tomorrow you'll be afraid to cough."
   ~~ Pearl Williams
