I have a Canon Rebel XT and a EF 28-135mm lens, a EF 75-300mm lens and a EFS 60mm Macro lens (all Canon) -- and no Photoshop. So, what I see is what you get!

I began this as an effort to improve my photography skills and it's turned into a sort of diary of my life, basically because I spend so much time with my family and friends. Therefore, they've become the subject of so many of my photos. It's kind of hard to get out and take photos of other things when you have a house full of kids and grandkids -- not that I'm complaining, mind you. I hope I am still improving at photography. I'm picking up the camera every day -- well, at least most days. I am putting thought into my images and the settings on my camera, etc. Any suggestions for improvement are greatly appreciated.

If anyone would like to contact me, my e-mail is irishmurr57@yahoo.com.

The busiest shopping day of the year, a.k.a. Black Friday.

This was actually taken on my way into work the day before Thanksgiving, because I had no intention of going anywhere near a mall the day after! (November 23, 2007)

“Wretched excess is an unfortunate human trait that turns a perfectly good idea such as Christmas into a frenzy of last-minute shopping - or attaches the name of St. Patrick to the day of the year that bartenders fear most.”

Nothing says "Thanksgiving" like a pilgrim windsock. (November 21, 2007)

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

"May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!"

Taking scenic shots is not one of my strong points, but it was such a nice day, I had to get out and give it a try. (November 20, 2007)

Whenever we hang out with our son Chas, people realize why Chas is the way he is. I'm talking about his father -- not me! (November 17, 2007)

"Every son quotes his father, in words and in deeds."
   ~~ D.H. Mondfleur

[Chas doesn't usually like pictures of himself -- well maybe he gets that from me -- but he liked this one. It's straight from the camera -- no playing with it at all. I kind of liked it the way it was myself.]

John heard the Packers were playing the Lions on Thanksgiving Day and made a beeline for the Cheese Head. Now that's a football fan! (November 16, 2007)

"Football and Thanksgiving. They go together like Mom and apple pie, like NBA owners and greed, like Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra. And they’ve been together a lot longer, too."
